When the Nike SNKRS app was released, Nike said it was going to be the “ultimate sneaker source.” It promised exclusive releases, contests and lotteries to win shoes, and aimed to make sneakers available to those living in really small markets. But there has been a huge problem since the release…not many people seem to be winning.
Why is it so hard to win on the Nike SNKRS app? These are a few reasons….
Supply and Demand
There is only a small limited amount of pairs for a large amount of people wanting to win every release. For example, the Jordan 5 Retro Off-White had 30,000 pairs available worldwide and there were over 1.5 million app entries of people hoping to get these shoes. This is also why these type of shoes sell for so much on the resale market.
Bots
Professional sneaker resellers use sophisticated bots. Recently, a viral photo of bots attempting to get the AMBUSH x Nike Dunk High “Cosmic Fuchsia” went viral. With so much bots jamming the same servers you are trying to win on, it’s difficult to beat out automated bots that work at lightning speed.
However, Nike is attempting to eliminate bot activity so it is important to like posts, share posts, watch videos, search for more drops, and other actions to show that you are a real human. You don’t have to endlessly use your account, but regularly checking in and using your SNKRS app features could improve your chances of winning.
Server Issues
There has been a lot of complaints regarding issues with the app crashing or stalling due to high activity around release dates. Nike favors PayPal. By using PayPal as your form of payment, PayPal already verifies your identity over a bot account and helps your chances of winning.
Ladies First
If you set your account to a female gender there are rumors to getting more hits on sneakers because Nike wants to be inclusive and get more females involved in their mostly male audience. There is no proof of this, but it can’t hurt to try!
