If you are looking to get a summer job this year or looking for a new job in general, Verizon might be a good option. The wireless network giant just announced they will be raising the minimum wage to $20 an hour.
The new increase will apply towards customer service, retail and inside sales positions. In addition to the new minimum wage increase, there will also be sign-on bonus offers for retail positions in select markets.
If you already work at Verizon and currently receive less than $20 an hour, your rate will be raised automatically to the new minimum.
“These changes are the direct result of employee feedback and will help us remain an attractive employer in this competitive environment,” said Krista Bourne, Chief Operating Officer for Verizon Consumer Group.
Verizon’s new increase outdoes previous minimum wage raises by Amazon ($15), Walmart ($12), and Walgreens ($15).
