Nike to Cut 740 Jobs at Oregon Headquarters

Nike Oregon Headquarters Layoffs

Nike is cutting 740 jobs at its Beaverton, Oregon headquarters. The news came out in a required report to Oregon’s Office of Workforce Investments.

This is the second round of job cuts for Nike this year. In February, CEO John Donahoe said they’d let go of 2% of their global workforce, about 1,600 people.

The 740 jobs being cut won’t affect employees at Nike’s stores or factories, but they’re still figuring out which departments will be hit. They plan to finish all the layoffs by the end of June.

In its filing, Nike stated, “NIKE, Inc. will be permanently reducing its workforce at its World Headquarters located at One Bowerman Dr., Beaverton, OR 97005, and surrounding neighborhoods.” They expect around 740 employees to be affected by this and the earlier round of layoffs by June 28, 2024.

Nike did a similar round of layoffs in 2017, letting go of 2% of its global staff at that time.
