During the COVID-19 pandemic, video call platforms have increased in popularity. Many schools have provided lessons via Google Hangouts while various business meetings have been conducted through Zoom. Facebook has just announced they are now joining in on the video call action with their latest feature called “Rooms”.
The new “Rooms” feature is now currently available on Facebook Messenger‘s desktop and app version in English speaking areas. Individuals can access a “Rooms” call through a new section above your News Feed or through your notifications. Even if a person doesn’t have a Facebook account, they can also participate in the video call as long as they have the call link. Only eight people can join a “Room” call currently, but Facebook plans to increase the limit to 50 people in the coming weeks.
