George Rollo is a multi-talented 17 year old fashionista from Leeds, United Kingdom. Aside from have a great fashion sense, George is also an artist and designer. Having already done various murals and sold many of his art pieces….”Art Rollo” is definitely on the rise. aGOODoutfit.com had the awesome opportunity to interview the young artist/designer:
How long have you been into fashion? Have you always been a fashionista?
Rollo: I’ve been really focusing on fashion since I was like 13 years old. I’m now studying fashion design at college full-time to really understand fabrics and the construction of garments. In the past I’ve dressed super bad – mostly just trying to impress and felt so uncomfortable. Now I dress really simple and make sure I feel comfortable but keep it dope as hell. Mostly just a good pair of denim, a hoodie or sweater and some really dope shoes to finish.
Where do you get inspiration for your outfits?
Rollo: I just go out and see people who look sick and take ideas and inspiration from them. I go out and walk a lot as it frees your mind from everything so I can really focus on my next piece. It’s a really good way of getting ideas flowing.
What is your favorite fashion item you own and why?
Rollo: Either my Moncler Coat or Yeezy’s. The Moncler Coat keeps you so warm in this crappy England weather and the Yeezy’s are the comfiest shoes going. Hard decision.
Many of your art pieces are fashion related. Where do you get inspiration for your artwork?
Rollo: I get inspiration from everywhere. Mostly what’s the ‘in hype’ thing at the moment. So you gotta’ really keep up to date with whats dope and whats not. Its really easy to get inspired now with the internet and social media.
What is your favorite art piece you’ve done?
Rollo: I think its gotta’ be a recent piece with a Lambo Aventador with Richie Rich leaning on it. The piece just flows so well and got crazy awesome feedback from it. It was also kind of a statement, as I drew the Lambo with only one pencil and fully shaded it with detail then drew Richie Rich with Crayola Pencils, to show people that you don’t need the best equipment to get a sick outcome.
You have also designed fashion pieces and customized item such as tote bags, Vans, and hats among other items. What is the most difficult thing about designing?
Rollo: I think the hardest thing about designing anything is constantly getting ideas on what to do next to make sure its new and makes people want to see more. It’s especially hard with full-time college and private orders to be dealing with as well. But I wouldn’t ask for anything else. I love keeping busy.
What is your favorite fashion piece you have designed?
Rollo: I think its gotta’ be my backpack. I take it everywhere with me and an Italian Street Artist tagged it haha.
What upcoming items can we expect for sale from George Rollo?
Rollo: I’m mainly going to be focusing on some new paintings and Art with 24 carat Gold Leaf. I have a lot of interest in my new art so I’m really trying to get some super dope stuff out for sale. I don’t really put anything for sale and when I do, its only for 24 or 48 hours – its mostly for special pieces though.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Rollo: In a studio somewhere drinking Ace of Spades, creating some dope art.
