A video from a 2021 deposition featuring Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, has resurfaced ahead of a new A&E series.
The deposition was part of a legal battle between Ye, Yeezy Apparel, and MyChannel Inc., a company that filed a lawsuit in 2020 accusing Ye of breaching an oral agreement and misappropriating its technology. Reports later confirmed the lawsuit was settled with a dismissal agreement.
Footage from the deposition will be featured in the upcoming series Interrogation Raw: Celebrity Under Oath.
Clips of the session, which took place over Zoom in June 2021, show Ye wearing a hat reading “Rooted In Ignorance.” At one point, he admits to using his phone during the deposition.
“Due to my mental geniusness, in order to focus on this bullsh*t, I need to be on a phone” Ye remarked, prompting his legal team to intervene. He eventually agreed to put the phone away but made a dramatic change: he removed the hat and replaced it with a full head covering.
“You don’t have the right to see my face,” Ye told the questioning attorney when asked about the mask. When pressed on whether he intended to wear the mask for the remainder of the session, Ye simply shrugged and replied, “Perhaps.”
The new Interrogation Raw: Celebrity Under Oath series premieres December 26, 2025 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.
