Austin Babbitt, better known as Austin Butts or Asspizza is a young, but highly respected fashion designer. He is a Queens native and has no plans on ever making anywhere else his home base.

It was in New York with his friend known as Father Steve where Austin became in love with graffiti and fashion. He started an Instagram account to show off his creativity to the internet. After getting some success with the IG page, he decided to create a personal account as well. He randomly decided to use the handle, Asspizza and the rest is history.

The Asspizza account caught the attention of Luka Sabbat. Before becoming a model and actor, Luka was a well known name in the New York streetwear scene. Luka shouted out the Asspizza account and gave Austin a bunch of newfound popularity.

One of the many new followers Austin got thanks to the Luka shoutout was Ian Conner. You may recognize that name from his connections to A$AP Mob, styling Wiz Khalifa, and his own personal brand. Everything that Conner put his stamp of approval on at the time became huge and you guessed it, Asspizza got the stamp of approval!

The cosign from Ian Conner made Asspizza a celebrity in the streetwear scene. As his brand grew, he began customizing all sorts of clothes and hats. While he now is known for his custom embroidery, much of the early designs he made were done in Sharpie.

Starting out, Austin never actually sold clothing. He would create it and then give it away to his close friends, influencers, and celebrities. Austin was quoted in an interview when asked about why he didn’t put a price on his creations, “ If I sold it, people probably wouldn’t want it.”

While he wasn’t actually selling his creations, he learned that he could use his designs as currency to trade for whatever he wanted.

In 2015, Ian Conner and Asspizza had a falling out. The controversy started because Asspizza failed to mention Conner in a Fader article which was taken as a sign of disrespect.

Shortly after this controversy, Austin became close with Kerwin Frost and even became an honorary member of his creative collective, The Spaghetti Boys. It is rumored that his relationship with Kerwin cost him a collaboration with Adidas.

He didn’t let that lost opportunity stop him. When Kanye West has having pop up shops for his Pablo tour merch , Austin made his own similar designs and sold them outside of the pop up shops. While something like this would normally get you in trouble or at least shut down, he got invited to sell the stuff inside the store because they liked the designs so much!

It will be interesting to see what the Asspizza brand will do in the future. Do you have any Asspizza clothing? Let us know in the comments your favorite Assouzza pieces!
