Paul Van Doren who is one of the co-founders of the popular Vans brand has died at the age of 90. Vans tweeted the following message Friday, May 7, 2021:
Paul dropped out of high school at the age of 16. Upon dropping out, Paul started working at a local Massachusetts shoe factory. At the age of 36, Paul alongside his brother Jim Van Doren and two other partners opened the first Vans store in Anaheim, California in 1966.
Paul and its four founders owned Vans until they sold the company to VF Corporation in 1988 which also owns Supreme. Today, Vans has over 300 stores worldwide.
There is no denying Vans is one of the greatest brands in apparel history and we are thankful to Paul for starting it.
