Its been over 20 years since the last time there was an Undisputed Heavyweight Champion in boxing. The last person to accomplish the feat was the great Lennox Lewis.
Today, we are closer than ever to crowning a new Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world except we have one big problem. That problem is Tyson Fury.
The “Gypsy King” has a very important piece to the undisputed puzzle and that is the WBC belt. The problem is, Fury doesn’t want to risk losing it so he is choosing to avoid fighting the other guy with the rest of the belts which is the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk.
Fury has tried every excuse in the book to avoid fighting Usyk from demanding a specific fight date to a 70/30 purse split. Usyk for the most part has accepted all of these conditions, but it has still not been enough for Fury because by now….we all know he doesn’t want the fight.
Instead Tyson Fury does want to box an MMA fighter who has never been in a single professional boxing fight. Tyson Fury has officially announced that his next opponent will be Francis Ngannou the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.
The fight has been met with disgust from fans and boxing commentators alike. Usyk’s manager had the following to say about the announcement:
The biggest joke ever in boxing!!! I am sorry it’s not boxing it’s circus @Tyson_Fury becoming from positive person in boxing to negative joker in circus https://t.co/VYeOwxq0dt

A quick stroll through Fury’s fight announcement comment section will let you know what fans think of the matchup.
Fury should be embarrassed for ducking Usyk again. It is obvious by now Tyson is waiting for Usyk to either lose or lose a step.
