I was recently in a meeting with a local hip hop artist named CBG Bxndz and he mentioned how he wanted to mold his career after people like Travis Scott. He was referring to how he not only wanted to make music but also wanted to focus on doing fashion and other brand collaboration projects. Very few people have been able to master the art of brand collaborations quite like Travis Scott. While Travis has done collaborations with everything from video games to candles, this list will focus strictly on his fashion collaborations.
So let’s break down his top five fashion collaborations so far:
Been Trill

This is nowhere near the scale of what Travis has done in recent years, but one of his first fashion collaborations was with the fashion brand Been Trill. This collaboration occurred in 2014 and was a long sleeved camouflaged shirt that featured his La Flame nickname across the chest. The Been Trill collaboration makes the list due to the demand from fashion collectors wanting one of these in their collection.
New Era x Houston Astros

Every rapper wants to make it known that they support their hometown and want the love of the city in return. Travis Scott was able to score a collaboration with the hat company New Era and the Houston Astros to come out with the “Astroworld” tour merchandise. This fashion collaboration even led to Travis throwing out the first pitch at a Houston Astros game.

Bape is another instance where Travis Scott achieved larger than life status. In 2016, the fashion brand made a Baby Milo version of Travis, Big Sean, and Kid Cudi. This wasn’t the largest dollar fashion grab by a long shot but it cemented his name as an official force in the hip hop industry with greats like Kid Cudi.

We all wanted to be like Mike when we grew up but Travis Scott might have gotten closer to being like Mike than most of us. In 2017, Travis partnered with Nike/Jordan Brand on the Jordan 1 Retro High. It seems every shoe that Travis Scott collaborates with is well received by the public and ignites shoe collectors sending resell prices sky high.

Why is McDonalds on a fashion collaboration list? One of the many details about his monumental collaboration with McDonalds is that he designed special uniforms for employees as well as apparel merch that went coincided with the release of his own meal.
Travis Scott has completely redesigned what it means for musicians and other entertainers to monetize their work and what they can do with their personal brands. Even in the time of the pandemic shut down where nobody was allowed to have live concerts with an audience, he partnered with the video game Fortnite and performed for millions of people through the game.
Scott has been quoted as saying he wants to continue to do more brand collaborations so it will be interesting to see what company he partners with next.
