The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected nearly every single industry in some way including the streetwear industry. While you can expect the more popular brands to still be in business once the COVID-19 chaos ends, there will be many small streetwear brand names that simply weren’t prepared for such economic hardships and be forced to shutdown. As The Hundreds Founder Bobby Hundreds said at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, “A lot of brands don’t have the cash reserves to sustain this. We’ve had to have conversations about the future whether that’s having layoffs, filing for bankruptcy, and how we can come back from this if it goes on longer than expected.”
However, not all has been negatively impacted. Indeed, there has been some streetwear brands that have boomed during this pandemic. Brands that have been able to adjust to the climate and provide an array of popular items including stylish face masks accessories have been able to not only survive but thrive amid the pandemic.
Nonetheless, with so many fashion chains closing down and filing for bankruptcy such as J. Crew, True Religion, and Neiman Marcus, one can’t help to think…what will fashion look like this coming fall? More specifically, what will streetwear outfits look like?
Here are some guesses of what the fall 2020 streetwear scene might be like…
More Face Masks
Even though many parts of the country have already eased restrictions and no longer require the use of face masks, best believe they will still be worn by some this coming fall. A good hypebeast always takes advantage of popular trends and rides them out until they are not cool anymore. Expect many face masks to be worn this coming fall.
Many People Will Wear Previous Seasons
As we begin to head into summer, many brands should have already previewed some of their fall/winter 2020 season lines. Nonetheless, there are no fall/winter 2020 seasons in sight. With the possibility of no new season lines from your favorite streetwear brands this year, best believe people will have to resort to some of the older seasons. Expect 2018 Supreme Box Logo tees to make a comeback this coming fall.
Rise of Gloves
For whatever reason, expect to see a lot more gloves being worn this coming fall 2020. Much like the face mask proclamation, a hypebeast will never waste the opportunity to ride a trend until the wheels fall off and the use of gloves will be no different. While many people are wearing gloves right now as a precautionary measure to prevent becoming infected with the coronavirus, expect many people to wear gloves this fall that will be labeled as a precautionary measure, but really be used as an accessory to match their outfit.
So, what might streetwear outfits look like for fall 2020? We got some predictions….
Nonetheless, now matter how silly some streetwear outfits might look like this fall, the streetwear movement must live on. So go ahead and order some face masks, gloves, and previous seasons from your favorite streetwear brand today!
