Spotify continues to accuse Apple of unfair practices, claiming they harm competition and result in higher prices and limited choices.
Specifically, Spotify highlights Apple’s preferential treatment of its own apps like Apple Music, while imposing fees on competitors like Spotify. This dispute escalated with the European Commission’s fine of over €1.8 billion against Apple for abusing its dominant market position.
Despite Apple’s proposed changes to comply with regulations, Spotify deems them insufficient. Apple continues to defend its stance, stating it supports all developers, including Spotify, emphasizing that Spotify pays nothing for services to reach Apple’s user base. They view Spotify’s continued complaints as an attempt to access Apple’s tools without payment.
