While animated movies like ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ have received a lot of media attention for their box office prowess, ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ just had a bigger opening day than both movies. As a matter of fact, ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ just scored the biggest opening day of 2023 so far at the box office.
To the surprise of many, the new spidey movie scored a spectacular $51.7 million dollars on opening day surpassing expectations.
Across the Spider-Verse‘s opening day now ranks the third-highest for an animated film, after Incredibles 2 ($71.2M) and Finding Dory ($54.7M). It is now also the best ever opening day for a Sony Pictures Animation film.
