Scooter Braun Announces Retirement from Artist Management

Scooter Braun is leaving artist management after 23 years to focus on his role as CEO of Hybe America. This decision isn’t surprising, given rumors last year that he parted ways with Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande. Braun took on the CEO role in January 2023 after selling his company, Ithaca Holdings, to Hybe America for about $1 billion. Following the sale, clients like Idina Menzel and Demi Lovato also left Braun’s management.

In his retirement announcement, Braun said this change had been coming for two years but became real last summer when a major client and friend chose a new direction. He saw it as a sign rather than a setback.

“One of my biggest clients and friends told me that they wanted to spread their wings and go in a new direction. We had been through so much together over the last decade, but instead of being hurt I saw it as a sign.”

In his retirement announcement, Braun reflected on starting his career at 19 and the challenges of being constantly on call, which kept him from his children. He shared memorable career moments, including highlighting his two biggest acts in Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

“Justin and Ariana were both young teenagers when I began with them…to see them both come up to be the legends they are today will forever be one of my greatest honors. As we change our working relationships now, I will continue to root for them with the same passion that I did at each of their humble beginnings.”

SB Projects will continue under new management. Check out his retirement statement below.
