To celebrate the release of ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ American shoe company Red Wing (based in Red Wing, Minnesota) decided to recreate Mario’s boots and bring them to life.
The footwear company joined forces with Nintendo and Illumination to make sure the boots were created exactly like the ones Mario wears. Illumation said of the boots:
“Every on-screen pixel was meticulously accounted for when Red Wing’s skilled craftspeople turned Mario’s boots into a real-life, one-of-a-kind pair.”
Red Wing Shoes have made it clear the boots will not be available for retail sale. The Red Wing Mario Boots are currently in New York and will be on display at the Rockefeller Center throughout March and April. The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits theaters April 5, 2023.
