In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Jerry Lorenzo, the founder of Fear of God, talked about the challenges of maintaining a working relationship with Ye aka Kanye West.
Kanye has been a long-time supporter of Fear of God and has been seen wearing Lorenzo’s designs since he first burst onto the fashion scene. However, Lorenzo mentioned that he stopped collaborating with Kanye in 2016.
Although Kanye attended Fear of God’s first fashion show this year, Lorenzo hadn’t spoken to him in over a year when he showed up. Lorenzo explained, “Anyone that knows Kanye will tell you it’s a tough relationship to hold on to,” implying that the difficulty isn’t related to Kanye’s political views but rather his elusive nature.
It’s important to note that Kanye has faced criticism for expressing controversial ideas, including an interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones where he praised Adolf Hitler. Despite this, Lorenzo seems to express support for Kanye, and he likely finds the relationship challenging due to Kanye’s personality rather than his political beliefs.
