If you’ve been in the street fashion scene since the 2000s, then you definitely know who Bobby Hundreds is. If you haven’t been, Bobby Hundreds is the founder of the now legendary The Hundreds clothing line. He and his partner Ben Shenassafar founded the brand in Los Angeles in 2003. Bobby Hundreds named Bobby Kim at birth pioneered streetwear into what it is known for today. He has been in several interviews hosted by Complex, Hypebeast, GQ, and Lodown Mag, just to name a few. He has even written his own book, “This is Not a T-Shirt.” In this article, I pan over 10 interesting facts about Bobby Hundreds:

1. Bobby is the frontman of The Hundreds, while Ben is more of the behind the scenes – From the start of the business, they both quickly realized their own strengths and weaknesses. Bobby Hundreds is an illustrator, writer, photographer, and designer, while Ben handles a lot of the logistics. Both of them together started The Hundreds clothing line.

2. Bobby Hundreds co-directed “Built to Fail” with Scott Weintrob and Alexis Spraic – Built to Fail is a documentary about streetwear, heritage, and fashion. Interesting enough, he wanted to preserve the culture that he felt was being lost over time.

3. Bobby Hundreds was in law school before he started his clothing line – Bobby and Ben went to law school together before figuring out they wanted to start The Hundreds. Initially, they knew they didn’t want to become lawyers so they launched the company right after their first year. Bobby went up to Ben and pitched his idea with his artwork and t-shirts.

4. Bobby Hundreds has designed with multiple brands for more than 20 collaborations – The Hundreds has designed clothes and gear with multiple brands creating so many collaborations. Some collaborations included: Disney, Garfield, Diamond, Osiris, Looney Tunes, The Shadow Conspiracy, Married to the Mob, and much more!

5. Jonah Hill and Kid Cudi hung out at Bobby’s first Los Angeles shop – Jonah Hill, Kid Cudi, Tyler the Creator, and most of the Odd Future crew always hung outside The Hundreds in Los Angeles. Because this brand is rooted in the skateboard scene, decks and boards would be seen being used right outside the shop.

6. Luka Sabbat interned with Bobby Hundreds – Luka Sabbat is an actor and fashion superstar that interned at The Hundreds. Luka today is seen as a fashion guru amongst all his peers. Bobby Hundreds was definitely a great leader and role model to him.

7. Bobby and Ben’s first trade show was Agenda – Agenda is a fashion tradeshow held in Long Beach, California every year. It turned out to be really successful event for The Hundreds which helped them push the brand further.

8. Bobby and Ben were both in an interview together – Business of Hype sponsored by Hypebeast hosted both Bobby and Ben. Bobby mentioned that Ben doesn’t usually do the interviews so having them both on the podcast was interesting.

9. Bobby’s first employee was an annoying kid who emailed them to be apart of their street team – Scottie emailed Ben about joining their street team. Over time, Scottie would just help out at the office without getting paid for at least 3 years. As the years passed, Scottie has been their longest worker, while also getting paid the most.
