Google and Apple are Developing an App Tracking System for COVID-19

Google Apple COVID19 Coronavirus appAs president Donald Trump plans to begin reopening the country, he has officially announced there will be a new ‘Reopening Our Country’ task force assigned. As part of this new task force, Google and Apple will be a part of the initiative. Tech giants Google and Apple will be collaborating to develop a contact-tracking system in order to track the COVID-19 outspread among individuals.

A joint statement issued by the two companies states:

“All of us at Apple and Google believe there has never been a more important moment to work together to solve one of the world’s most pressing problems…Through close cooperation and collaboration with developers, governments and public health providers, we hope to harness the power of technology to help countries around the world slow the spread of COVID-19 and accelerate the return of everyday life.”

Announcement of this new tracking system has raised privacy concerns as people are skeptical of how much data Google and Apple will be collecting.
