Spike Lee’s gold “Tinker” Air Jordan 3s, worn at the 2019 Oscars, recently hit the Sotheby’s auction block.
Sotheby’s expected the shoes would go for about $15,000 to $20,000, initiating bids at $7,000. However, the final auction result surpassed expectations, closing at $50,800.
The auction, held until Dec. 18, garnered attention not just for the sneaker’s allure but also for its charitable cause as all proceeds will entirely be donated to The Portland Rescue Mission.
The Portland Rescue Mission is committed to breaking the cycle of homelessness, addiction, and despair in the lives of hurting people and is led by a Christ-centered staff of 90 and 887 volunteers.
