How Flight Club (Los Angeles) Was Robbed of Its Entire Inventory

If you’ve turned on a TV, social media, or a newspaper, I’m sure you’ve heard about all of the protests, riots, and looting going on all over the country. In case you’ve been living under a rock, these protests were started in hopes to bring justice to George Floyd, an African American man who died in police custody from injuries he sustained by Officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis.

With the incident being caught on tape and viewed by millions of people online, people began to set up protests in major cities all over the country. While many protests were peaceful, there have been hundreds of businesses vandalized and some even fully wiped out of all of their merchandise. One popular business that was looted is the Los Angeles sneaker consignment shop, Flight Club.

Flight Club was established in New York City about 15 years ago and revolutionized the sneaker retail industry, becoming the original consignment store for rare shoes. They have developed a massive online following and successful business by being known as the place to go to find rare shoes. Since their New York beginnings, they have opened up locations in Miami and Los Angeles, the LA location was the only one to be looted.

The looting was done by dozens of people who took multiple entries into the store that had no police intervention during the break in. There have been no official statements from the store itself about how much was lost but tweets say that ALL of the inventory was taken.

The company will be able to rebuild and thrive again, the people who consigned their shoes to be sold may be out of luck, or at best case scenario have to wait for insurance claims to be settled and hope that Flight Club gives them a fair payment for the goods.

The Flight Club policy on merchandise is that they are not responsible for any merchandise that is lost, stolen, or damaged while in their care.

On May 31st, Flight Club released an official statement that shows their support for peaceful protests to get social change and justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and others who lost their life from police brutality:
