Fashion Instagram accounts are a dime a dozen, but a good one that actually provides cool outfits and gets the creative fashion juices flowing are few and far between. Fashionista, Blaise Cardullo’s, Instagram is one of those good fashion accounts we speak of. From streetwear to fedora hats and every type of outfit in between, if you follow Blaise Cardullo on Instagram, you get a good men’s outfit to stare at, criticize, and dissect every 48 hours or so. We had the opportunity to interview the New Jersey fashionista on his outfits, favorite clothing items and how much he spends on clothes…
How long have you been into fashion?
Blaise: I’ve been into fashion for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been interested in clothing and as soon as I started working in high school, my paychecks went to building up my wardrobe and it’s been expanding ever since.
Where do you get your inspiration for your outfits?
Blaise: While I am interested and inspired by following the current fashion trends, most of my inspiration comes from my own closet. I like to use creativity and imagination to create unique and fresh looks that are all my own.
What do you wear on lazy days?
Blaise: Lazy days tend to mostly consist of sweatpants and a hoodie, or a loose pair of joggers with a long plain tee, snapback hat, and a clean pair of sneakers.
You own a lot of nice clothes. How much do you spend on clothes on average a month?
Blaise: There can be a lot of misconceptions about how much money it takes to make a good outfit. Realistically, a whole new outfit can be made without spending a dime on new items…all it takes is a little creativity by mixing up what you already have or grabbing some go-to basic pieces from staple stores like H&M or Urban Outfitters which you can easily find for under $50.
Do you prefer online or mall shopping?
Blaise: I do like to both order online and shop in store. I do prefer a brick and mortar store so I can ensure what I am buying fits right, lays right, and looks right before I buy. The majority of the items I tend to buy online are pieces I already know will fit correctly and look the way I imagine them to.
What is the key to a good outfit?
Blaise: Confidence. Hands down. Regardless of if your style is different from someone else, or if you have access to all of the clothing in the world, or if you only have a few items, no outfit is complete without confidence. Make it your own, wear it, and wear it confidently, no matter the opinions of others. Confidence is influence. Be yourself.
What is your favorite fashion item you own?
Blaise: Red Balenciaga Arenas and a black leather bomber. Both of these pieces can turn any outfit up a notch.
Aside from yourself, who do you think has great fashion sense?
Blaise: I respect all types of fashion, not just style similar to my own. That being said, for my celebrity favorites, I have to give a nod to Kanye West, who always pushes the limits with his fashion risks and is a major influencer to the fashion industry as a whole. On the other side of the coin, Scott Disick has a clean, fresh, and dapper look who also takes some risks of his own. Both West and Disick have different styles, but both share the confidence needed to pull off their individual looks.
As far as Instagram goes, all of the @Champaris75 crew, @danielo_costa, @craigreg1, @sydneymensstyle all have their own individual fashion sense I admire
If you could give advice to any guys looking to improve their style, what would it be?
Blaise: Find your comfort zone. Don’t sacrifice your own style for what is popular or trending. Stick to what you like and wear it confidently. Be sure to have a proper fit to make sure your outfit flows together. Definitely do not try and mimic or copy anyone else’s style but your own, and if you stick to what you like and what fits your personal style, you’ll have no problem ♦
