Facebook and Ray-Ban have a new pair of smart glasses coming in 2021. Facebook has just signed a multiyear partnership deal with Ray-Ban parent company Luxottica Group.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said of the new partnership during a Facebook Connect live stream:
“After spending time with their team and visiting their factory, I knew that they were the right partner for us to help bring the best technology together with the best glasses…I can’t go into full product details yet, but they’re really the next step on the road to augmented reality glasses…and they look pretty good too.”
The Vice President of Virtual Reality at Facebook, Hugo Barra, teased the Facebook x Ray-Ban smart glasses collaboration with the following trailer:

Facebook will be conducting research for their upcoming Ray-Ban smart glasses through Project Aria which is a research device Facebook will use to learn as it develops its Ray-Ban smart glasses. Facebook employees will begin wearing Project Aria glasses in public starting September 2020.
