The cryptocurrency market has been tanking recently, but meme coin Dogecoin just got a huge lift thanks to none other than Elon Musk.
Elon took to his twitter account with over 70 million followers to announce that Tesla was now accepting Dogecoin as a method of payment for merch. Dogecoin immediately shot up 18% after the announcement.
Items available to be purchased with Dogecoin include Tesla belt buckles for 835 Dogecoin which is approximately $162 USD. The children’s all-terrain vehicles cost 12,020 Doge which comes out to about $2,280 dollars.
Dogecoin was founded in 2013 as a parody of the cryptocurrency market, but has become a legitimate cryptocurrency contender in the past 12 months.
