Spotify – Off the Record with DJ Akademiks
Social media influencer and hip-hop news reporter DJ Akademiks claims he is now shadowbanned on Instagram. The popular @akademiks Instagram page has over 4.7 million followers.
Shadowbanning is the practice of limiting a user or their content without officially notifying them that their visibility is being restricted. When a person is shadowbanned, their content becomes undiscoverable via hashtags and sometimes even to their followers which makes engagement drop.
In the latest episode of his “Off the Record” podcast Akademiks goes on to claim:
“On Instagram, I’m shadowbanned. My main page is shadowbanned….we have been shadowbanned for the last nine months.”
Akademiks also goes on to claim popular independent creators are being targeted because mainstream media and big corporations can’t control their message.
