The famed Japanese designer and founder of the KENZO fashion label, Kenzo Takada, has tragically passed away after suffering complications with COVID-19 according to a spokesperson for Takada’s luxury K-3 brand.

Kenzo died at the American Hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France today October 4, 2020. The Japanese designer was 81 years old.

A representative of K-3 said of his passing:

It is with great sadness that we have learned that our dear friend Kenzo Takada passed away today. He was an inspiring and prodigious creator and we were proud to collaborate with him. We will always remember his smile and joie de vivre. The fashion, design world and all of us are mourning him tonight and extend our sincere condolences to his loved ones.

His world famous KENZO brand was founded in 1970 and now owned by LVMH.
