Custom Clarks Wallabees by Stan Birch Made for Jay-Z and Friends

Footwear artist and colorway designer Stan Birch, also known as @staniflou on Instagram, recently took on the task of crafting personalized Clarks Wallabees for Jay-Z and his inner circle.

Drawing inspiration from the 50th anniversary of hip-hop and the enduring friendship among Jay-Z and his closest associates—Emory Jones, Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith, Jay Brown, Lenny Santiago, and Juan Perez—Birch aimed to design pairs that reflected both the group’s solidarity and each individual’s unique tastes, inspirations, and preferences.

To capture the crew’s unity, each pair features matching color schemes and distinctive embellishments, such as a gray and black suede upper with “vintaged” shaggy detailing around the forefoot’s trim. The right shoe boasts a hand-painted Paper Planes logo on the lateral heel. Noteworthy details include the names of each crew member printed in 22-karat gold leaf on all pairs, along with Birch’s logo on the left shoe’s lateral heel.

The hangtags vary on each pair, serving as reminders of something specific for each crew member. Thirty triangular hangtags, six for each pair, incorporate diverse motifs like the Grammy Awards logo, Def Jam wordmark, and even Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith’s favorite drink.

Additionally, seven rectangular laser-cut fobs showcase Jay-Z’s lyrics about his friends. While these pairs will not have a public release, those interested in Stan Birch’s work can reach out through his Flou Customs Instagram page for potential personalized pairs.
