The popstar icon who is responsible for hits such as “Baby One More Time” and “Oops!…I Did It Again” is now a free woman. Britney Spears has just broke free from the conservatorship that gave her father, James Parnell Spears, control over her life and finances.
During the almost 14 years of conservatorship, Britney had no say in how her money was being spent. The conservatorship first started back in 2008 when her father first petitioned a court for authority over his daughter’s life and finances as a result of her very public meltdown.
A Los Angeles court judge ruled on Friday, November 12, 2021 that the conservatorship was now over.
“Effective today… the conservatorship of the person and estate of Britney Spears is hereby terminated. And that is the order of the court,” said Judge Brenda Penny.
Good God I love my fans so much it’s crazy 🥺❤️ !!! I think I’m gonna cry the rest of the day !!!! Best day ever … praise the Lord … can I get an Amen 🙏🏼☀️🙌🏼 ???? #FreedBritney
