Bernie Sanders has been very vocal about Nike’s business practices in the past. The senator from Vermont is back again with more criticism for the swoosh this time attacking its 125% profit increase in 2021 and bashing founder Phil Knight in the process.
Bernie took to Twitter to say:
“Corporate greed is Nike increasing its profit by 125% last year to $5.7 billion & blaming “inflation” for a 10.5% price spike on a pair of expensive sneakers made by workers in Vietnam earning less than a buck an hour while Phil Knight became $26.7 billion richer in the pandemic.”
Nike is not the only company that saw profits soar during the pandemic ridden year. Companies such as Tesla, Amazon, Walmart, and Apple also saw profit increases of over 100%. Take a look at Bernie Sanders’ official tweet criticizing Nike below.
