James Harden has a big decision to make. Harden’s contract with Nike recently expired and the company’s chief competitor just made him an offer he might not be able to refuse. The three stripes (Adidas) has just offered James Harden a $200 million dollar contract.
“We’ve inviting James Harden to join Adidas,” said Adidas spokesman Michael Ehrlich in a statement. The contract would consist of $200 million over a span of 13 years. If a deal is reached, Harden could very well make more from Adidas in the coming years than his actual playing contract with the Rockets. Harden signed an $80 million contract extension with Houston in 2012 that goes through the 2017-18 season.
It remains to be seen what Harden will actually decide, but our guess is Nike will lose another elite athlete from its stable as Adidas continues to pay big cash to endorse star pupils in an attempt to compete with the swoosh. Expect an Adidas James Harden sneaker soon.
