Most people would believe counterfeit purchases were misjudgments or accidents. It seems like that may not be the case after all. According to a new study conducted by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), 60% of counterfeit fashion-related purchases in the UK were made intentionally. If the study is in fact true, that would mean Londoners were buying Yeezys off Alibaba on purpose.
The counterfeit industry is booming and shows no signs of stopping down. OECD reported that in 2016, $17.6 billion worth of counterfeit goods were imported into the UK with the majority of them coming from China. Of the $17 billion, counterfeit fashion items accounted for $3.11 billion. So next time you find a brit wearing a fake, they most likely knew they were buying a counterfeit.
