A BATHING APE recently held its first runway show in China, showcasing the Fall/Winter 2024 collection in Shanghai.
Celebrities, influencers, media, and special guests attended to see BAPE’s latest designs and upcoming collections from sub-labels like AAPE, BAPE BLACK, BAPY, APEE, and MR. BATHING APE.
Inspired by ancient Chinese traditions, the show featured a “Siheyuan” backdrop and mythical creatures like the Azure Dragon and White Tiger, alongside traditional gardens, palaces, ink paintings, and blue-and-white porcelain.
The men’s collection highlighted two themes: “Subculture Aesthetic,” influenced by hip-hop, and “Campus Life,” merging Y2K school life with college sports. The women’s collection included playful themes like “I Love BAPE” and “Noughties Girls,” featuring hearts and tulips.
Key items showcased the new Marbling Camo print on the Shark Parka, Snowboard Jacket, and Oversized Garment Dye Sweatpants, and the Lux Sport pattern on Puffer Jackets, Tracksuits, and Denim pieces.
BAPE also celebrated its Japanese roots with graphics inspired by “Wabori” tattoos, “Komainu” statues, and “Botan” flowers, alongside Chinese cultural elements like dragons, pandas, and the zodiac.
