Back in 1984, cartoonists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird introduced the world to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles through their comic book series. Fast forward to 2024, and adidas Originals is celebrating the 40th anniversary of TMNT with a special collaboration on their iconic Superstar sneakers.
This unique Superstar design pays homage to the original comic book appearance of the turtles. Instead of their individual colored masks, all four turtles sport red eye masks on the shoes. The design features red side stripes and lace jewel, with a green leather upper mimicking the turtles’ skin. The white shell toe showcases a hexagonal pattern reminiscent of their shells, while a shell graphic adorns one tongue.
The sneakers also feature adidas branding on the heels styled to match the font from the TMNT comics. Additional details include pizza-inspired graphics on the insoles, hidden sewer manhole covers, and “SHELLTOE” gold foil branding on the lateral side. The shoes come packaged in blister cases like action figures and include a TMNT x adidas comic book.
