Peso Pluma has clinched the title of YouTube’s most-viewed artist of the year.
According to YouTube Charts, the 24-year-old Mexican sensation dominated with an impressive 8.5 billion views on the platform in 2023, surpassing heavyweights like Taylor Swift, Drake, NBA YoungBoy, and Bad Bunny.
Pluma’s hits, “Ella Baila Sola” and “La Bebe (Remix)” with Yng Lvcas, secured the third and fourth positions on YouTube’s U.S. Top 10 Songs of the Year. Notably, “Ella Baila Sola” made history as the first regional Mexican single to crack the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 in its 65-year history, reaching No. 4.
The track also dominated the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, reigning at No. 1 for 19 weeks and achieving a remarkable 21x-platinum certification by RIAA, equivalent to 1.26 million units in sales and streams.
Expressing gratitude, Pluma said, “I feel humble and grateful that my music has made it to the top spot on YouTube.” YouTube’s head of artist partnerships, AJ Ramos, praised Pluma’s impact, stating, “A featherweight in name but a heavyweight in impact, Peso Pluma’s journey on YouTube became a testament to the transformative power of authentic storytelling and creative expression.”
Peso Pluma’s year has been truly monumental with eight wins at the Billboard Latin Music Awards and a string of chart-topping hits, and now the most streamed artist on YouTube it can be safe to say 2023 was definitely Peso Pluma’s year.
