Joyner Lucas’ Song “Ye Not Crazy” Removed from Music Streaming Services

Amidst the ongoing controversy with Ye (formerly known as Kanye West), companies left and right have come out and have either dropped or denounced any affiliation with Ye.

There is one industry however that has remained relatively silent on whether they would no longer do business with Ye and that is the music industry. While his fashion partners Gap and adidas have dropped Ye, streaming services Apple Music and Spotify have not removed his music.

Spotify CEO actually came out and publicly denounced Ye’s anti-Semitic comments, but also stated Spotify would not be removing his music from the platform. Apple Music also has not removed any of Ye’s music, but did get rid of his ‘Kanye West Essentials Playlist’ from the platform.

However, there is one piece of Ye-affiliated music that was removed from both Apple Music and Spotify and that is Joyner Lucas’ single “Ye Not Crazy” which was released earlier this year. While the song still appears on Spotify, you can no longer listen to it.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it okay for music streaming services to pick and choose which songs stay on the platform?
