In case you didn’t know, Virgil Abloh was a Chicago native. The legendary artist and designer moved to Chicago for graduate school at the Illinois Institute of Technology and earned a master’s degree in architecture in 2006. He had a living residence in Chicago until his death.
To honor his time in the city, Chicago artist Rahmaan Statik has painted a beautiful graffiti mural purely out of spray paint at Chicago’s Time out Market in dedication to Virgil.
Rahmaan has named his mural “VIRGIL ABLOH ‘WILD STYLE’ GRAFFITI TRIBUTE MURAL” and it is 15×30 feet in size. Rahmaan said of his mural to FOX 32 Chicago news:
“I’m deeply affected when I see any fallen peer artist within my age group that I feel like their career was kinda cut short…the world will miss what else he had to offer as a creative individual.”
