For years, New Balance has boldly claimed “MADE IN THE USA” as well as “Made in the US for over 75 years” on their sneakers. That claim is now being disputed.
Anthony Bollini, Spencer Verrilla, Matthew Cristostomo, Derrick Evans, Robert Kaminsky and Clifton Bradley are suing New Balance for what they claim is false advertising. According to the plaintiffs, New Balance shoes are not made in the United States and claim up to 30% of the company’s shoe pieces are made with foreign labor or imported from other countries.
The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rule for a “MADE IN THE USA” product claim requires “all or almost all” of a product to be made in the USA.
New Balance has yet to publicly reply to the lawsuit. No official ruling has been declared.
