Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Buys Back Sean John Brand for $7.5 Million

Back in the early 2000s, there were few brands as successful and popular as Sean John. Diddy first launched the brand back in 1998 and it became an instant success. Diddy even won the menswear designer of the year award in 2004 thanks to the success of the Sean John clothing line.



The brand was so successful it was generating $450 million back in 2016 which is when Diddy decided to sell 90 percent of his stake. When Diddy left, the brand lost its luster and declined in popularity to the point it went bankrupt.

Now Diddy is back to reclaim his brand and bring it back to relevancy. He just bought Sean John back for $7.5 million.

Diddy said of his decision to buy back Sean John:

“Seeing how streetwear has evolved to rewrite the rules of fashion and impact culture across categories, I’m ready to reclaim ownership of the brand, build a team of visionary designers and global partners to write the next chapter of Sean John’s legacy.”
