Dollar Tree has stayed loyal to its name for many years. However, the pandemic and fiscal policy in Washington has really put a dent on profit margins for the bargain chain due to inflation. So Dollar Tree will now start charging more than $1 for SOME items.
CEO of Dollar Tree, Michael Witynski, said of its latest announcement:
“For decades, our customers have enjoyed the ‘thrill-of-the-hunt’ for value at one dollar – and we remain committed to that core proposition – but many are telling us that they also want a broader product assortment when they come to shop”
That means some items will now be priced over $1. Rival chain 99 Cents Only Stores has already done this for years. However, Michael reassured that Dollar Tree will still focus on providing $1 priced items or just above that.
“We will continue to be fiercely protective of that promise, regardless of the price point, whether it is $1.00, $1.25, $1.50,” said the CEO.
Expect to see items over $1 at your local Dollar Tree in the weeks to come.
