They both worked for different hedge funds and banks leading to their decision to branch off and create their own company (Robinhood). The two are best of friends and are to this day.

Before Vladimir Tenev was the CEO of Robinhood he previously had founded two other finance companies. When he was younger and pursuing his degree he established finance companies in the city of New York. His goals were similar to those he had when he started Robinhood. The two companies however did not take off as well as Robinhood.

Vladimir has taken his time to inspire the younger generation to invest and indulge in finance. He has been invited to several talks at universities. Finally, Vladimir Tenev is a family man. He is married to his wife Celina Tenev. The two met at Stanford University as she was studying medicine. They have one child together who is four years old. Vladimir says in an interview that he specifically allocates time to spend with his family every day to maintain the connection in the family and not lose himself at work.
