As an occasional watcher of The Joe Budden Podcast, YouTube recommended me the “We Got Dissed?” episode from the official Joe Budden TV channel. I was bored, so I watched.
While The Joe Budden Podcast crew laughed and pretended to brush off the disses, I knew the movement was for real. Joe, Mal, and Rory were clearly bothered by some of the punchlines. The pod incorrectly said the disses were from a reddit user named “November’s Only 4th Child”, but they are in fact by an emcee that goes by the name of Big Pump Killa.
I reached out to Big Pump Killa to see if I could ask him a few question as I had many. Luckily, he said yes. Here is what Big Pump Killa had to say in regards to his Joe Budden Podcast diss tracks:
Why are you dissing The Joe Budden Podcast?
BPK: I’m dissing the JBP because I’ve been a fan of Joe since his first album and I’m a day one listener of the pod. For about 8 or 9 months now the podcast has been going downhill in terms of quality and I had to let them know.
Is anybody encouraging you to go at the podcast? Some people believe someone of influence may be funding or encouraging your diss tracks.
BPK: The only thing encouraging me to do it was seeing other people in the fan base feeling the same way I do. Aside from that nobody is influencing anything. I’ve had people reach out and tell me they think Drake is behind it….some people even think Joe himself is behind it. Craziness. But I’m basically just a disgruntled fan shooting fact filled bars at their head top. Nobody is funding anything, but anyone who wants to help Big Pump Killa out on his mission can hit me on the Cash App $BIGPUMPKILLA
Where are you recording your diss tracks? Do you have access to a studio as Mal suggested?
BPK: All of the disses have been recorded at my house using an iPhone with stock Apple headphones through the BandLab app. There is a studio I go to close by but I’m not spending money on studio time to do this.
I assume you want to stay anonymous. But is there anything you can tell us about yourself? Where you’re from? Name? Anything?
BPK: The name is Big Pump Killa, you can call me BPK though. I will tell you I’m from New York. Aside from that, not much more information I’m willing to provide. I’m a fan of anonymity.
Will you continue to go at The Joe Budden Podcast in the future?
BPK: Well, I thought I was done after the Ether joint for a while but after hearing the pod last week I was inspired to come back over the Hit Em Up beat. As long as they provide me with the ammo, I will continue to let the shots fly.
What is the end goal for your diss tracks? A Joe Budden diss track response? The downfall of the podcast?
BPK: Never. I love the podcast. I just think the guys need to stop being so safe and go back to what brought them to the dance in the first place. I feel like their industry ties prevent them from being honest about certain topics these days. As far as a Joe response – I know that’s not going to happen. He didn’t even respond to Eminem….even though Eminem is TRASH these days, he’s still Eminem. Anyway, the end goal is just to provide some laughs for the fan base. Some people love it, some people get really mad over it. I’ll keep doing it as long as I find it fun. Follow me on YouTube! ♦
