Perhaps the biggest news headline of this past week was when San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, decided not to stand during the United States national anthem. This caused a media firestorm from media outlets and the public alike. Some agreed and supported his action while others crucified it. Colin Kaepernick himself stated on the action, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
